Phal. NoID "Valentine" recovering from sunburn

This phal is special to me, as it was a gift from my boyfriend on Valentines Day one year ago (hence the name) .

As seen by the thin, black, and cut out parts, this poor phal was sunburned. I placed it temporarily outside on a warm, overcast, spring day while I was doing a thorough cleaning of my room. It was in shade, and well watered so I would never expect it to become sunburned or parched. Sadly, that is what happened but is is making a rather good recovery. I let it be, and kept care as close to normal as possible. Im sure that this plant knows what its doing.
One new leaf has grown since then and Im hoping for a few new roots soon.

Woody, most likely dead aerial roots - awaiting new ones :3

A picture from one year ago, showing buds and the phal's pretty pink & white colors.

B. Little Star in full bloom.

     B. Little Star was bought at the same time as the BL. Yellow Bird I posted about earlier. They were both in spike/bud but the Little Star has bloomed first!

There are 2 blooms, an inch across in size, and both a nice bright white color. They are suposed to be scened, but I cannot comment on that due to a cold and stuffy nose.

Say hello to my red carpet :)

A late introduction to Phal. NoID "Floppy Jack"

This is Floppy Jack, named so because of its floppy, long, unruly leaves. I normally would not bother with a plant like Floppy Jack, but I found him in the trash bin of the hardware store after bloom - Free plant!

The leaves are not that floppy, but much more unruly compared to my other phals.

Floppy Jack is not too healthy - very poor roots and it seems like it is confused. Instead of pushing energy toward leaf or root production, this phal keeps trying to bloom!  It has pushed 4 flower buds in the last 2 months and a spike extension, despite having two stubby roots. I snipped the spike and placed the blooms into a vase (which lasted 3 weeks!) so the plant could focus on things other than blooming  and it seems like it might be pushing another spike! I give up! (I also think I need to stop taking  in rescue plants! :P )

Spike extension - Just wont give up!

Another spike? (left side)

As of right now, Jack has been repotted along with everyone else. I am hoping and anticipating root growth.

New BL. Yellow Bird

Large root system.
I bought this, and another Brassavola on a whim. They are also BetterGro brand plants like the cattleya I have previously purchased. I could not resist the fact that is was $5 and in spike!

Yellow Bird spike - awaiting scented, yellow bloms!
Just like all my plants recently, I have repotted it into coconut LECA mix, back into its original 4" green plastic pot. It was HORRIBLY root bound when I tried to unpot and seemed to fit back into its old pot nice and comfortably after snipping some unhealthy roots.

In addition to the spike, there are two new PBs growing at the base. Tiny purple colored nubbins.

Stunted growth on Phal. 1

Nothing new here. Just repotted into new medium after the accident. It is kind of a good event because the old media was staring to house fungus gnats.

I have noticed that the new baby leaf poking out from the crown (not seen in picture) has stopped growing. It has been about 2 months without growth progress.

Onc. Heaven Scent 'redolence' final repotting

Fine coconut 'oncidium' mix from Repotme.com
I finally received my medium! It has taken almost a month, but not at fault of the company - I did not complete my order like a fool and was waiting for a shipment that I never technically ordered! I was ecstatic to see the big box because it meant I could finally pot my oncidium properly. This will hopefully be the last potting for a while. I have definitely stressed this poor plant more than necessary.

This onc. is now potted in a 4.5 inch clear pot. Its slightly too big but I stuffed some packing peanuts at the bottom to tighten things up.

The plant is not the best looking right now, but at least its alive. That makes me very proud! The baby PB's have grown a bit since the last post. All is rather well.
